2026-11-01 — Port Configuration Layout Fix

PacketPilot Config

Fixed

• Port Configuration tab now renders correctly: all port columns are visible (no clipping), the preset and STP sections no longer overlap, and action buttons are sized consistently.

If you are running the build from 28 June, re-download PacketPilot Config to get this fix — the previous download still contains the old broken layout.

Verified

• Rebuilt EXE confirmed to contain the fix; the app boots and runs without errors.

2026-06-26 — License Surface EXE Build

Verified

• Smaller download held: EXE package still ~126 MB after adding license-key validation. No ML packages crept back into the build.
• Smoke test: rebuilt Config EXE boots without errors.

Customers updating Config from the 5/26 build get the new license-key validation automatically — clearer error messages when a key is mistyped, and an optional hosted fallback server for self-hosted operators who want disaster recovery.

2026-06-24 — License Surface + Bloat Strip Refresh

• Smaller download: EXE package reduced to ~126 MB (was 272 MB before the bloat-strip pass). Removed unused ML packages that were never imported but were bloating the build.

Added

• License key format validation: Config now rejects malformed license keys before contacting the license server. A mistyped key shows "Expected format: PPRO-XXXXXX-YY (e.g. PPRO-ABCDEF-26)" instead of a confusing connection error. Email copy-paste still works — whitespace is stripped automatically.
• Hosted license server fallback (optional): Self-hosted operators can now configure a hosted fallback URL (e.g. https://license.db-electronics.no) for disaster recovery. If the primary server is unreachable, Config tries the fallback. Server-side rejections (expired / wrong key / device limit) still surface unchanged.

Fixed

• License save no longer crashes the UI: Entering a malformed license key no longer crashes the Settings dialog or lock screen — the error message is shown in place.

License Client 0.5.0

• Format validation helper: New validate_key_format(key) for fail-fast validation without network calls.
• Optional fallback server: New fallback_server_url parameter on validate() for operators who want to forward a hosted endpoint as a fallback.

2026-06-04 — Team Tier for Analyze

PacketPilot Analyze

Added

• Team tier ($240/year): 50 cases per month, designed for small teams that outgrew Solo but don't need full Pro. Bridges the gap between Solo (free) and Pro ($588/year).

License Server

Added

• Team tier support: License server creates and manages Team-tier licenses. Unknown tier names are rejected with a clear validation error.
• PATCH endpoint updates tier limits: Changing a license's tier now updates its device and case limits automatically (previously required explicit limit fields on every update).

2026-05-28 — SSH Reliability + Console UX

PacketPilot Config

Fixed

• SSH commands reach privileged mode reliably: SSH workers now correctly enter privileged mode before sending commands on Cisco, HP, and Juniper devices. The credential database uses consistent field names across all workers.
• Console no longer double-sends: Pressing Enter in the console input no longer accidentally triggers the Send button.
• RSA key generation no longer hangs: When generating RSA keys on a switch, Config waits for the device's actual prompt instead of using a fixed timer that could expire early or hang late.

Added

• Friendly switch names: Add/Edit switch dialogs include a "Switch Name" field (e.g. "Core-SW-Floor1"). Device dropdowns show the friendly name when set, falling back to ip:port.
• Visual Switch Ports view: Port listing replaced with a clickable grid showing port status (up / down / err-disabled / disabled) at a glance.
• Port presets: Built-in port presets (Server Access, Uplink Trunk, Disabled, Voice+Data, Dynamic Desirable) with a switchport mode selector for fast port configuration.

2026-05-26 — Initial Enforcement Build

PacketPilot Config

Added

• Device limit hard block: Config now blocks device discovery at the licensed limit. When the maximum number of devices is reached, new devices cannot be added — no overage allowed. A dialog shows current count and license limit.
• Device limit paths audited: Only the network scanner adds managed devices. Context menus, topology, and inventory tools do not create new managed devices.

Changed

• Smaller download: EXE package reduced from 272 MB to 259 MB by removing unused components.

Known Limitations

• Trial mode (free, 5 devices) soft-warns after 30 days but does not hard-block.

PacketPilot Analyze

Added

• Server-side case limit enforcement: Case creation is now blocked server-side when the monthly limit is reached. Returns a clear error message with current count and reset date.
• Quota display: The web interface shows current case count and remaining cases for the month.
• Atomic case counting: License server uses per-key file locks to ensure accurate case counts under concurrent requests.
• Month boundary reset: Case counters reset automatically on the first of each month.

Known Limitations

• Uploading packet captures or log files to a case does not create a new case and does not consume the case quota.

License Server

Added

• Case counting: License server tracks monthly case usage per license key. Each case creation is counted atomically.
• Per-key atomic increments: Concurrent case creation requests are serialized using file locks, preventing race conditions.
• Monthly reset: Case counts reset on the first day of each month.
